detox residential treatment program

medically supervised detox services

We're excited to announce that the Department of Health Care Services has granted us approval to offer "Incidental Supervised Detox Services" to those in our care. Recognizing the importance of medication-assisted therapy, the Department, along with Governor Brown, endorsed the use of Buprenorphine and similar MAT treatments in 2015. By 2016, legislative changes such as AB848 legalized programs that had been previously prohibited from employing medical professionals to prescribe vital detoxification and recovery medications. While Methadone and other MAT solutions have been utilized for some time, outdated beliefs about MAT users being "not sober" were not only challenged by 2019, but also deemed illegal.

The Supervised Detox/Clinical care model is now recognized as the most effective approach, especially for those with coexisting disorders. As our understanding of addiction has evolved over the years, the Supervised Detox/Clinical framework offers a renewed perspective on addressing this intricate condition.

Today, addiction is understood as a disease with neurological roots, intertwined with factors like attachment disorders, developmental trauma, and genetic predispositions relating to both physical and mental health. True recovery starts with a comprehensive understanding of this multifaceted illness. Incorporating a biopsychosocial approach and leveraging the American Society of Addiction Medicine's (ASAM) guidelines ensures that every patient receives individualized, evidence-based care aimed at mending a compromised endorphin system and addressing pain-seeking behaviors. Only programs that employ this holistic methodology can genuinely provide the depth of care required for lasting recovery.

treatment for co-occurring disorders

Drug addiction is a neurological ailment that often coexists with other psychological conditions. It's notable that up to 6 out of 10 individuals battling illicit drug addiction also grapple with another mental health issue. This ratio remains consistent even for those addicted to legal substances, such as tobacco and alcohol. Over half of those with severe mental disorders also face challenges with substance abuse. In particular, 37% of alcohol users and 50% of drug users have AT LEAST one concurrent mental health condition. When multiple disorders overlap, treating any single one becomes increasingly complex. Hence, it's crucial for individuals seeking substance abuse treatment to be evaluated for any accompanying mental health conditions. Studies suggest that an integrated approach, addressing all disorders simultaneously, often yields the most favorable outcomes.

Since its inception in 2010, Amber has been dedicated to supporting patients with dual diagnoses. We're adept at addressing the specific challenges faced by those battling both substance addiction and mental conditions like depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and other psychological challenges.

Furthermore, our patients collaborate with a dedicated team, including a Physician, Therapists, and Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor, to curate a comprehensive treatment journey encompassing detox, residential inpatient care, and a subsequent exit/aftercare strategy to maintain sobriety post-treatment. We fervently advocate for our alumni to share their recovery narratives with current patients, reinforcing the idea that many have triumphed over similar struggles.

Our meticulous pre-admission and admission evaluations are geared toward identifying any existing or historical dual diagnoses. Additionally, post-detox evaluations are conducted, as some substances can obscure underlying mental health challenges. If any conditions are detected post-detox, they're addressed alongside the substance use disorder. If a secondary diagnosis emerges as a primary concern, patients are directed to suitable care. Once stabilized, they can return to Amber for focused substance abuse treatment.

AMBER RECOVERY DETOX TREATMENT PLANNING

At Amber, our expert clinicians guide patients in setting initial detox objectives, one of which may involve successfully maintaining sobriety throughout the detox process. An initial step toward achieving this can be a consultation with a physician followed by a comprehensive physical examination. Additional steps might encompass adhering to prescribed medication regimens and undergoing random or predetermined drug tests. If any challenges emerge during the detox phase, the clinician and patient collaborate to anticipate and plan for them, ensuring the patient has strategies to address potential setbacks. All detox treatment plans are established within the first 48 hours of admission.

A further objective during detox might be recognizing the detrimental effects of substance use and understanding the potential repercussions of continued usage. Together, the patient and counselor outline incremental steps toward broader goals, setting clear timelines. If deemed suitable, the patient's objectives will transition toward sustained involvement in the most fitting treatment level post-detox.

amber recovery exit planning

As patients progress through their treatment journey, the Amber team guides them toward the conclusion of residential inpatient care, ensuring continued commitment to treatment and remaining objectives. Some goals might extend beyond the timeframe of their stay at our facility. The departure strategy outlines ongoing commitments and necessary steps to reach the patient's aspirations. Amber uses the ASAM dimensions as a reference for discerning patient requirements during their program exit and for organizing a seamless shift to increased autonomy and the next care level.

Departure preparations encompass finding a supportive living arrangement, addressing family dynamics, long-standing challenges, and potential triggers that could emerge outside the sanctuary of inpatient care. It details how patients will sustain the support systems established during their residential stay and identifies external resources they can utilize.

The objectives and incremental milestones, originally outlined within the residential care, sometimes become "maintenance goals," often conceived in earlier care phases. For instance, the emphasis on continuous mental health commitment, upholding routine self-care practices such as adhering to prescribed medications, partaking in therapeutic sessions and activities, and preserving a mental health support circle, are firmly established before departure.

Amber's departure strategy consistently emphasizes progression to subsequent care levels and advocates for prolonged treatment engagement. Statistics highlight that extended treatment participation increases the likelihood of sustained sobriety.

We link patients transitioning out with entities offering extended treatment and support resources. These encompass local partial hospitalization initiatives, intensive outpatient programs, mental health centers, detox supervision facilities, community groups (like 12-step assemblies), spiritual or religious entities, legal representatives (lawyers, parole or probation officers), secure housing, reliable recovery networks (like alumni), and other vital resources. Collaboration with external resources is solidified through formal agreements.

Amber's departure plan consistently underscores the importance of joining Amber Recovery Center’s Alumni sessions and recurrent activities. All Amber beneficiaries can always reach out to our team whenever they feel on the brink of relapse or need a supportive community. We champion their involvement in Alumni groups and maintaining connections with Amber staff and fellow patients (given the former patients' consent).

Amber Recovery Alumni:

Amber's Alumni assemblies take place weekly, welcoming both current and past patients. It provides an avenue for former patients to exemplify enduring recovery, fostering hope and encouragement for those in Amber's detox and residential inpatient care stages. Our Alumni constitute a robust sober community, accessible for both present and past Amber patients, offering unwavering empathy and support.

Frequently, the success of a patient at relapse risk can be attributed to the Alumni's robust support mechanism and their exceptional readiness to assist. We take immense pride in having nurtured a "Recovery Family" that extends beyond our residential confines, offering unmatched support to recent departees.

Amber Recovery Center is privileged that our Alumni remain actively involved, embodying high standards and efficacious recovery strategies. amber recovery’s Continued Communication

Amber is steadfast in its commitment to guiding our patients toward sustained sobriety. As part of our continuous drive for growth and enhancement, we proactively engage and gather data concerning the long-term outcomes of our alumni, be it sustained recovery or relapse instances.

Our primary objective is to evaluate and refine our offerings. We view enduring sobriety as a testament to the effectiveness of our methodology. Yet, our data collection isn't solely confined to mapping the spectrum between complete sobriety and absolute relapse. While we recognize that relapse can occasionally be a step in the journey towards recovery – irrespective of the treatment facility involved – we perceive each relapse instance as an avenue to introspect and refine our strategies. This feedback is invaluable in assessing our overall impact and allows us to fine-tune our approach. Through rigorous quantitative evaluations of our alumni's progress, we gauge the strengths and areas for improvement in Amber Recovery Center’s program, scrutinizing our techniques, therapeutic modalities, clinical prowess, and overall effectiveness.

Our evaluation process entails reaching out to every Amber alumnus to determine their sobriety status. We make efforts to connect with each former patient through in-person meetings, phone conversations, or online communications at specific intervals: 1 week, 4 weeks, 8 weeks, 12 weeks, 16 weeks, 20 weeks, 28 weeks, 40 weeks, and 52 weeks. There are instances when tracking down a former patient proves challenging, and we duly incorporate these anomalies into our datasets.

Whenever we ascertain that a past patient has encountered a relapse, our priority is to support them in reclaiming their sobriety. We present evaluations, potential re-admission considerations, or referrals for those willing to re-engage in treatment. Amber extends assistance in planning, offering referrals, addressing obstacles, and, if deemed essential, facilitating the patient's return to our facility or suggesting alternate programs as needed.
